About Me
I am a mathematician, assistant professor, and coffee enthusiast at Minnesota State University, Mankato. My research interests include abstract harmonic analysis and frame theory, with a particular focus on representations of high-dimensional data.
In the classroom, I encourage students to discover mathematical ideas for themselves through interactive course notes featuring digital manipulatives and real-time feedback, many of which I design using DoenetML. Beyond the university, I have taught and organized outreach through programs such as MathPath and MathHappens, and I regularly bring hands-on, interactive mathematics activities to K–12 family nights and community events.
This site is currently under construction as I continue organizing materials, expanding content, and developing the Jekyll theme that powers it. In the meantime, you can visit my GitHub profile to see some of the projects I’m currently working on—or even contribute to one yourself.
Current projects include:
- Documenting tools and workflows for creating accessible mathematics documents.
- Developing interactive course notes and educational resources through the Obsidian plugin I wrote (currently in beta).
- Expanding my collection of teaching materials, including interactive lecture notes and resources for courses I have taught.
Education
Training in harmonic analysis, functional analysis, and combinatorics (extremal graph theory and combinatorial optimization).
Graduated summa cum laude with a minor in Studio Art. Awarded Outstanding Graduate in Mathematics.

Work History
Teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in mathematics (24 credits per year). Advising undergraduate and graduate students. Develop OER resources for mathematics courses. Serve on departmental and university committees. Conduct research and train graduate students.
Coordinate schedules, hiring, and training for the Math Room located at the Children’s Museum of Southern Minnesota. Create a space for children and their families to experience joyful, hands-on mathematics activities. Continues as a self-sustaining, student-led program.
Teach and coordinate courses for the MathCEP program and Mathematics department. Primarily taught and coordinated courses for the University of Minnesota’s Talented Youth Mathematics Program (UMTYMP).
Instructor for ART1303: Photography I. Half the semester was focused on the technical aspects of photography: camera operation, exposure, and lighting. The other half of the semester was focused on the artistic aspects of photography: composition, color theory, and visual storytelling. Included historical study of technical development and famous examples.
Tutor students in pre-college mathematics, calculus, English composition, and oral communication. Assist students with study skills and time management.
Assisted students with disabilities in the classroom. Helped students with note-taking, test-taking, and other accommodations.
Graded assignments and exams for Calculus I and II courses.
Assisted in studio art classes, including painting, drawing, ceramics, and print-making. Maintained studio equipment and supplies. Helped students with technical aspects of their work and use of equipment.
Tutored students in college algebra, trigonometry, and Calculus. Assisted students with study skills and time management.
Assisted blind student in the classroom for Intro to Programming. Helped students with note-taking, test-taking, and other accommodations.
Operated a small photography business, providing portrait and event photography services. Managed all aspects of the business, including marketing, client relations, and financial management.
Developed and maintained software applications for clients. Services focused on fleet and technician management. Products were used by General Electric Service, Wal-mart, and FedEx Freight, among others. Provided IT support and system administration for the Arkansas division of the company.
